Insights for saving, sharing, and living simply in Christ

Resources, Spirit, Sustainability, Time, Witnessed

Working God’s Truths into your day is catchy and highly recommended to those who live for Christ. Today, like many times in the past, I’m at a local Thrift-Town where families converge to bargain shop. The trick to a wholesome relationship with Christ is invite Him to share whatever His Spirit has in-store. This popular setting attracts everyday people searching out inexpensive ways to save time, money, and resources. It might be a step back from Nordstrom’s but it’s a stride forward for the planet.

Dear Lord, may all your blessings be upon these eager shoppers who practice sustainability. While it may seem distant from Tabernacle or Temple worship I’ve witnessed the Spirit at work here many times. Today’s invitation is to search out a local second-hand store when there’s chance and donate time, money, or resources. Any one or all three will be greatly appreciated.

Then take a minute to read this passage:

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God, yet if we love on another, God remains in us, and His love is brought into perfection in us. This is how we know that we remain in Him and He in us, that He has given us of His Spirit.

Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent His Son as Savior of the world. Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God remains in Him and He in God. We have come to know and believe in the love God has for us.” (1 John 4:11-16 NABRE)

By sharing at large you’re expressing love and responsibility for others. Lord likes a thrifty gathering. Think of all those extra items cluttering up space at home, they could be re-used. The world’s resources are limited, but God has unlimited graces. A few just waiting to make someone’s day; let your love be brought to perfection in someone’s bargain spree!
