Assume what is Free and Simple: SO WHAT IS HARD AND HEAVY is consumed in silence
Assume what is Free and Simple: SO WHAT IS HARD AND HEAVY is consumed in Silence. Jesus is renowned for Silent Meditation as are His most prominent followers. Let’s share a phrase from Thomas Merton: “It is a more profound depth of Faith, a knowledge too deep to be grasped by words, images, or clear concept…”[1] Brother Merton, a Trappist monk, underwent spiritual and emotional changes in life so you and I could better contemplate Righteous Living.
Letting God take what is Hard and Heavy inspires integrity. Truth is, nobody is powerful enough to muscle themselves through life outside of God. Those who are Born Again can humble themselves in Contemplation and are closest to God. Words can depict Images and images can instill Beauty, but repeated Silent Prayer blends the Holy Spirit, Thoughts, and Imagery into Righteous Living.
“Therefore since we have been made right in God’s sight by Faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our Faith, Christ has brought us into this place of the highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens or confident expectation of Salvation. And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.” (Romans 5:1-5 NLT)
If silent contemplation is your specialty you have already received certain gifts from God; Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to move us into action. Those outside of religion cannot sit still long enough to Enjoy, Serve, or Converse with God; His Love is Free and Simple, a byproduct of Peace, and a gift of Tranquility in Jesus name; Amen.
