Can a love affair with Christ ever be Half-Full?
Thinking about love is like Shadowboxing, a shady practice unless you’re a boxer who spars with restless Spirits. A while back in my bible study each member drew what was on their mind, I sketched a Heart. A Corazon (heart) that was being fed by white-capped rapids of Salt and Fresh water. Atop was a Waterfall-of-Love flowing down through half my heart into a pool of Sparkling-Water churning below; but the other half remained empty and Vulnerable.
Can a love affair with Christ ever be Half-Full? This world can fool us into feeling half loved. It’s human to feel wanted; a partner in the Flesh, and of Flesh can help complete one’s Dreams. Being Lavished with Faith and Lonely don’t seem to mix. Being single didn’t make much sense until I able to break down and cry; then offer the subject matter to Christ. Matters of the Heart are a bit too grand for a one night stand.
“So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new-moon celebrations or Sabbaths. For these rules were only shadows of the real thing, Christ Himself. Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. And don’t let anyone insist you must worship angels, even though they say they have had visions about this. These people claim to be humble, but their sinful minds have made them proud.
But they are not connected to Christ, the head of the Body. For we are joined together in His Body by His strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.” (Colossians 2:16-19 NLT)
Spiritual vitality keeps people from fretting too much about Soul-Mates. Best to grasp Life as it comes, Sharing each day and Living what God brings to Light. Be it a River-of-Love, overflowing Passion, or a River-of-Tears this Body belongs to Christ; let’s learn to share its fruit without Oppression or Regression.
