Moral Obligation: Do citizens fail to Help one Another commit to Godliness?
Join me in a conundrum found in today’s WSJ. Columnist Barton Swaim describes an ethical dilemma surrounding the word Moral; used to modify most everything tainted by sin the word has become weak. “Mr. Swaim reports various uses of the word; such as, Moral Courage, Moral Bankruptcy, and Moral Cowardice.”[1] In each instance I found an obligation to stand up, take up ones Cross, and give Jesus a chance. That’s it! People have a Moral Obligation to serve Friend, Family, or Foe in the name of God.
Humanity is responsible for taking care of those who are unable to fend for themselves. The Economic, Political, and Religious ruin of Nations is a direct result of people failing their Moral Obligations. Being immoral is disgusting, weak, and selfish but doesn’t undermine Nations as of yet. But Economic Charade grows out of Greed as do Administrative Corruption and Pious propaganda; whole countries are inflicted when their citizens fail to Help one another commit to Godliness.
”Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who’s love is born of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God — for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full expression through us.” (1 John 4:7-12 NLT)
Today’s example of Moral Obligation has to do with being Spokespeople. Jesus relies on us to tickle the tainted and touch those who know they ought to increase their service to others. When citizens accomplish their Internal Obligations via the Holy Spirit their essence is gratified more than their pocketbook. And a lively Spirit is liable to share God’s Graces where none has gone before.
